This episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast covers quite a bit of ground starting with a celebration of the life of Barry Chuckle (Elliott), one-half of the Chuckle Brothers, at the age of 73. He and his brother Paul entertained millions, including Ant and Tom with their slapstick routines for decades.

Sir Patrick Stewart is reprising his role as Captain Jean Luc Picard in a new Star Trek TV series and the guys debate this for a while before spilling out into discussions of books adapted for TV and movies and where deviation works and doesn't.

The President of Venezuela has been attacked by drones carrying explosives... or has he, as we record conspiracy theories are growing including a local terror group claiming they did it through to the fire department saying that it was a gas tank in an apartment block, not a drone attack at all.

Some small news stories piqued our interest including a man complaining that his hedge lady keeps getting attacked by horny drunks, a man steals a shark from an aquarium and VR Mario Kart is coming to London!

All this an much more on the episode of Anywhere But Here.

Enjoy!

Episode 223 - GAMMON!

00:0000:00

After some housekeeping about changes coming down the pipe for us here at the Anywhere But Here Podcast, Ant and Tom have a couple of topics that came up recently they wanted to dissect and discuss.

Firstly Katie (Cunty) Hopkins has resurfaced after a few years to spout some bullshit about the case of Tommy Robinson where she claims some outrageous things about exactly why she thinks he's been locked up. She's wrong. Also, she makes the claim that 'Muslim overlords' running the UK jail system... what exactly does that mean? Ant and Tom delve in.

Secondly, they discuss the knee-jerk firing of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after some right-wing trolls dug up some old tweets of his and posted them without any context. What we learn from this is that people should be allowed to own their mistakes and learn from them, not be fired. Alternatively, you can't paint over the bits of history you don't like to sanitise it, bad things happened like British colonialism and the Second World War. Though these eras are morally reprehensible, there's no questioning that good things came from them, including the ability to never repeat those mistakes.

Oh, and a man kills one of his work colleagues with a compressed air gun while playing a childhood game.

Enjoy!

In this episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast Ant and Tom talk about getting high after a story from Pennsylvania where a couple were arrested after getting high on bathsalts and shooting at fireflies mistaking them for alien lasers. A lot is getting made about football coming home from the World Cup in Russia as, for the first time in 70+ years, England actually seems to have a decent football team. However, Tom is worried about watching the semi-final and possible final matches as each of the two matches he's sat down to watch have either been losses or very close to losses. This also chimes with Ant. What should we do?! Ant tried to get into a festival in Maidstone while Tom was at one in London. Plus Ant has been offered a new job in healthcare!

All this and much more in this episode of Anywhere But Here.

This episode of the Anywhere But Here Podcast sees Ant and Tom talking on the Chris Hardwick allegations but from a more considered approach, rather than the extreme opinions being spouted by Twitter users, both those who know the couple involved and those that don't. Basically, the theme of today's episode is take a step back, think about things before reacting to them and ask open questions. This is not quite the open and shut case that the Weinstein allegations appeared to be. So, as with many things in life we have two ears and one mouth so should use them in that ratio (a maxim Tom's primary school teacher said once that has stayed with you ever since). Also on this episode Ant finally gets to see Hamilton and follows it with seeing Wicked on the same day. Tom git to see Pearl Jam at the O2 one the only night that Eddy Vedder's voice held out.

All this and more for your ears to feast on.

Ant and To return to the Pod Pod to regale us with tales of their overseas adventures and more. Ant went on holiday to Alicante with his family where it got wet and wild with a brief fear about needing the assistance of the local healthcare system. To went on a work trip to Austin where he ate himself stupid, accidentally walked into a memorial service and met some gun and Trump lovin' locals. Bobbie P and Andrew sent in some interesting articles that cause some debate and Ant talks about a self-help book to reduce the amount of time you actually have to work while increasing your free time.

This episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast covers a whole lotta ground. Ant and Tom are both a bit exhausted after a week or two for good weather which, for us Brits, means being out and about and getting sun burn while having BBQ and drinking lots. However, Ant says something that reminds Tom why he might be feeling particularly frazzled... it's a doozie! After the revelations the episode takes more of a traditional turn and the topics covered include: Ant getting friended by a scammer, AI passes the Turing Test by booking an appointment at a hair salon, Britain's Eurovision entrant is stage-invaded by a protester, Ant sees Hairspray, Tom gives a dissertation on the Alien, Predator and AvP films and how - if at all - they intersect after seeing the latest trailer for The Predator. All this and much more!
